Sadly, 2022 hasn't exactly been a rosy year, but I think we can all agree that Wordle has been one of the few bright spots. But as captivating the game has been, maybe the original five-letter word game isn't doing it for you anymore. Fear not; if you’re looking to get more out of the Worlde format, there are plenty spin-offs for you to try.

7. Quordle

If you're looking for more Wordle, this four-in-one word game has it in spades. Quordle challenges players to solve four traditional five-letter puzzles at the same time, with only nine guesses total. It's quite a balancing act.

6. Worldle

This geography game challenges players to identify countries by shape and distance. While it's not the only map-themed Wordle clone out there, I think it's actually taught me more than any of these other games, and that's definitely worth a spot on this list.

5. Hurdle

This one's a more traditional take on the Wordle concept, but with a marathon twist. You have to solve five puzzles in a row, with each correct answer becoming your first guess on the next one. And for the last puzzle, every correct answer counts as a guess, and you only have two left to finish.

4. Crosswordle!

Cross it up.

Crosswordle

This one's interesting because it essentially asks you to solve three Wordles at once, but in reverse. You're given a complete puzzle, and then you have to fill in pre-determined black, yellow, or green tiles without repeating letters.

3. Waffle

Confusingly, Waffle actually has more in common with crossword puzzles than our previous selection, but go figure.

This game challenges you to untangle both horizontal and vertical Wordles by swapping letter tiles. You get fifteen moves to solve each puzzle, but if you're really savvy, you can fix each one in just ten. Try it out.

2. Redactle

Possibly the most intimidating game in the Wordle family, Redactle presents you with a random Wikipedia page with most of the words blacked out. Guessing a word reveals it — assuming it's in the article in the first place.

1. Semantle

The game that we called the Dark Souls of Wordle is still going strong. Unlike most word games, Semantle is actually about the meaning of words rather than just their spelling, which is a fresh twist.

The game's dictionary can sometimes leave you scratching your head, but Semantle is the only one of these games I play every day, and I think that's a testament to its challenge and unique place in the Wordle firmament.
