The next Dragon Age game finally has a name: Dreadwolf

It's the fourth entry to the fantasy-RPG series, which has not seen a release since 2014.

To everyone who has been anticipating the next major Dragon Age release, BioWare (the series’s primary developer) has some good news for you in the form of some long-awaited details about the fourth entry to the fantasy-RPG series. It will be officially titled Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, BioWare announced today in a blog post alongside some information on the forthcoming game’s primary antagonist: Solas, the Dreadwolf.

Most of the language used in the post sounds like a spooky riddle, as Solas is described as being a well-known figure, but for potentially nefarious reasons.

His [Solas] motives are inscrutable and his methods sometimes questionable, earning him a reputation as something of a trickster deity — a player of dark and dangerous games.

While the game was officially announced back in 2018, there hasn’t been much news to trickle out regarding specific details since then.

Outside of introducing some lore revolving around Solas, BioWare noted that Dreadwolf would not be releasing in 2022 but that fans could expect additional updates about the game later this year.

Take your time — As mentioned previously, the fourth major installment of Dragon Age was announced close to four years ago at the 2018 Game Awards, during which Solas’ (they were first introduced at the end of Inquisition) return was hinted at. But as apparent in the comments on the official teaser, fans are okay with BioWare taking its time.

“I've been waiting so long for this, but please, for the sake of all that is good in this world, TAKE YOUR TIME. You can take as much time as you need, just make this game as good as you possibly can,” noted one user.

“For the love of god DON'T RUSH THIS ONE, it's been 4-5 years but take your time and deliver a good combat, GOOD CUSTOMIZATION and rich lore game, plz don't rush it, pretty pls,” commented another.

Considering Inquisition was released back in 2014 and Dreadwolf isn’t slated to drop until 2023 at the earliest, it looks like BioWare is doing exactly that. Only time will tell if the gap between its third and fourth entry pays off.
