How to FaceTime your Android friends with iOS 15

Apple's FaceTime is finally branching out in the newest software update.

Slowly but surely, Apple is loosening its vice grip on iOS by letting users command Siri to launch Spotify, set default apps for things like email, and now, in iOS 15....

You can invite friends to use FaceTime on Android phones and Windows PCs

And all it takes is a link sent via text message or email.

If bringing your Android and Windows crew into the FaceTime fold is something you long to do, we’re going to tell you exactly how to make those cross-platform video call dreams come true...

First...

If you haven’t already, you’re going to need to download iOS 15. Keep in mind, the update is still currently in beta, so before you go rushing off to download it, remember that it will be buggy, and you should definitely back your phone up first.

Once you have iOS 15 downloaded, the process couldn’t be simpler. To send your FaceTime invite, pull open the FaceTime app on your phone, tap, “Create Link” and give the link a name. After that you can choose the method by which you’d like to send the aforementioned link.

Once the recipient follows the link, they’ll be directed to a page where they can enter their name and join the call.

After choosing a name, they’ll be redirected to a browser like the one seen here, where they’ll be able to participate in the call and generally use FaceTime as one might on an iPhone.

There are other FaceTime updates in iOS 15, like spatial audio, grid view, and portrait mode, but unfortunately, Apple isn’t ready to share everything with Android users just yet, so if you’re looking to get more out of FaceTime, for now it’s iOS or bust.
