The battle for CPU supremacy continues. AMD announced availability and pricing details for its latest flagship CPU, the Ryzen 5800X3D, in addition to six other chips at different price points that look to fill gaps with its Ryzen lineup.

AMD first announced the 5800X3D during CES 2022, noting that it would be the first Ryzen processor to feature its new 3D V-Cache technology which uses true 3D die stacking to hit some impressive cache specs.

AMD said the 5800X3D delivered a better gaming performance compared to processors without the stacked cache technology.

AMD tested its flagship chips on games like Watch Dogs Legion, Far Cry 6, Gears 5, Final Fantasy XIV, Shadow of the Tomb Raider and CS:GO at 1,920 x 1,080 resolution and high in-game quality settings.

The 5800X3D won’t come cheap, since AMD says it’ll be the “world’s most advanced desktop gaming processor.”

But it’s more affordable than some of the company’s other top-of-the-line processors, like the Ryzen 9 5900X, which still carries an MSRP of $549.

AMD is also rounding out its CPU lineup with more affordable options. The Ryzen 3 4100 uses AMD’s Zen 2 architecture, and only has four cores and a 6MB cache. But at $99, it's priced to meet Intel's Alder Lake Core i3-12100 chip on a level playing field.

The lineup of six new CPUs goes all the way up to the Ryzen 7 5700X that costs $299. The eight-core processor is built on AMD’s Zen 3 architecture and has a 36MB cache and support for Gen 4 PCIe.

While all the new Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 3 CPUs will be bundled with an AMD Wraith Stealth fan, the 5700X will not get the same treatment.

Along with these new CPUs, AMD said it's extending support for Ryzen 5000 Series processors on AMD 300 series chipsets, including the new processors announced today.

AMD may be setting some new bars with its flagship 5800X3D, but it’s nice knowing that they’re still interested in making a range of CPUs that stretch all the way down to beginner budget builds.

Update: An earlier version of this article misstated which type of chips AMD announced.
