Apple’s iPad Air 5 comes in 5 groovy colors

The fifth-gen iPad Air is basically the same as the iPad Air 4, but with a new A15 Bionic chip, 5G, and a few new eye-catching colors.

Fifth-gen

The iPad Air was last updated in 2020 when it got an iPad Pro-like redesign, fun colors, and a power button with Touch ID. Alongside the iPhone SE (2022), Apple announced the iPad Air 5.

The design is unchanged (still a 10.9-inch Liquid Retina Display) but underneath the hood, there’s a whole lot going on.

The new iPad Air 5 is compatible with the Magic Keyboard.

M1

The M1 chip in the iPad Air 5 boasts 60 percent faster CPU and up to 2x faster GPU performance versus the iPad Air 4. Basically, everything is gonna work faster.

iPad Air 5 tech specs

• A15 Bionic Chip

• 10.9-inch Liquid Retina display (2,360 x 1,640)

• Touch ID

• 12-megapixel rear camera

• 12-megapixel FaceTime camera with Center Stage

There’s also a new 12-megapixel ultrawide FaceTime camera capable of 1080p on the front.

Not only are CPU and GPU performance faster on the iPad Air 5 versus the iPad Air 4, but the tablet also supports 5G speeds (on the cellular models), bringing it in line with the M1 iPad Pro and iPad Mini 6.

The iPad Air 4 came in a variety of colors. New for the iPad Air 5 is starlight, purple, and blue. The purple looks similar to the one for the iPad Mini 5.
