Kymco's new e-scooter is a battery beast with a 120-mile range

With no fewer than five batteries, Kymco's e-scooter will make sure you never run out of juice.

There are a lot of electric scooters out there — so many that it’d be futile (and redundant) trying to cover them all. And while this scooter from Kymco looks like it might fall into the snooze category, it’s actually get one feature — or five technically — that separate it from the pack.

Inside this fairly standard-looking scoot, named the “Like 125 EV,” are a total of five lightweight batteries which translate to a couple enticing specs, including...

A significant amount of range.

The batteries, which are modular/swappable, also allow riders to charge up some of the pack while they using one pack to actually drive, meaning you won’t have to worry about going without your scoot for very long.

“For the times when the removable battery has been taken out for charging and the scooter is still needed, KYMCO has made a contingency plan so the rider still can use the scooter for short distance trips using the core battery design and zero waiting for charging time.”

Currently, the Like 125 EV is headed for markets in Europe with a price tag of €1,200 ($1,359), which is a bummer for anyone stateside looking for a new long range scooter to zip around with. Looks like you’ll just have to wait patiently for your Metacycle to arrive for now.
