Razor’s electric Icon scooter is an homage to the early aughts

With a newly launched Kickstarter campaign, Razor is looking to bring its iconic design to the electric age.

If you were conscious in 2000 you probably remember the original Razor scooter — marketed as the world’s first folding kick scooter, it quickly became a must-own for kids all over the U.S.

About 22 years after its debut, Razor is now introducing an electric counterpart called the “Icon.”

There will be five different color options, bigger sizes for adults, and the same foldable aluminum frame.

All the same convenience, just more power. Razor

Here’s a rundown of the specs for the Icon:

- 350W motor

- 26.5 lbs.

- 18 mph top speed

- 36V lithium-ion battery,

-18-mile range

- 8.5 inch airless tires

- LED headlight and a brake-activated taillight

The guiding vision for Razor’s Icon was partly nostalgia-based but also rooted in the uptick in popularity for e-scooters over the course of the last few years. The Icon is priced fairly competitively, starting at $549, with models going up to $599

My younger-self would have been unbelievably hyped at this demo.Razor
